about

About this track and the following tracks... these tunes and songs were recorded in the mid to late 1960s and early '70s in San Francisco and Berkely, California. We had a lot of fun doing so and I personally hope you enjoy listening these as much as we did playing and singing them. These were recorded on an Akai reel to reel tape deck and a Sanyo casette deck with cheap mics and no attempt to "edit" the music. A bit "rough" in some places but still a faithful sample of what the folk revival was like at "ground level"! Milton Kalish has gone on to more Klezmer and oriental music on the fiddle and more African orientation on the banjo, playing styles from the banjo's continent of origin. Robbie Perlsweig moved back to the Woodland Hills area of LA, Larry Mahoney died in his early fifties of a heart attack and I persued a career in graphic art. We all played for the fun of it and still do so.

I wish to thank my nephew, Dan Meisenheimer, for this collection and presentation. He did it as a birthday present (September 25 being my birthdate) for my 74th birthday.

Thank you, Dan, and God bless!
